Joy Ride
There is the story of two flies who get locked in a plane after the cabin doors are closed. The one fly finds a resting spot and takes comfort in knowing that he's not responsible for how the plane navigates through the air. The other panics and takes on the responsibility of flying back and forth, feverishly flapping his small wings - for if HE doesn't keep flying, surely the plane will crash to the ground.
The story ends sadly because the second fly soon exhausts himself to death while his friend safely lands and exits with the other passengers.
LIke the unfortunate fly, we too so often try to take control over situations that really aren't for us to do so. Instead, hand over the driver's wheel, take a breath, smile and move into the passenger's seat. We don't need the window down and the sun on our face to enjoy the ride. Live in the moment and know that there are certain things that we just need to ride along.
Sometimes it's our role to take a seat and enjoy the ride. Go ahead, roll down the window, turn up the music and let your hair blow in the wind!
