I have a lot of friends in this world, my duck, my superball, I have fat
bird and blue bird, golf ball, my buddie, my nicki ree and so many others. But,
my most important friend in the world is myself. A lot of people forget that -
being a true friend to others, having a true friendship from others starts with
being a best friend to yourself.

Think about it this way, if a friend is having a bad day, do you tell them
it's probably something that they said, that they did, and now they should
spend the day punishing themselves, light a cigarette, drink too much or tell
them they should just go and spend the rest of the day overeating? NO! You tell
them it's going to be ok, that you are there to listen and to support them, you
tell them they need to let go. So why wouldn't we support our own selves with
that very same advice? Think about caring for a child - if they get hurt or
fall down, do you yell at them to get up and get over it? No, you help them to
their feet and offer compassion, love and support, you help heal their wounds.
If we start to offer the same kind of care to ourselves as we would for our
best friend or a child, we will be able to connect and live in a way that
better suits a higher ideal, one of goodness and that follows our very own
nature, who we truly are deep down inside.
Today, my best friend is myself and I love that person so very much...
