So the saying goes - 'you never know what you've got until it's gone.' Or something to that affect and I really experienced it late last night. I had a wonderful day full of napping, eating, car rides, a trip to the Custard Time ice cream store and of course playing with my Super Ball...It was time to end the evening and before I could get to bed, I needed to make sure my superball was safe and sound so that when I woke up, it would be right where I knew it would be. I searched, and searched and searched and could not find it. It was gone, nowhere to be found. I looked high and low and could not find it anywhere.
Sometimes we don't realize how much we love something, an object, a past memory, an old friendship or relationship until it's gone or lost. We start to think of 'the way things used to be' and feel sad or longing for that feeling again. The best thing that we can do before we move out of the area, before we take the next step in our lives, or before we decide to let go of something near and dear to us is to make sure we've appreciated it and given all of the attention and love that we have. When you say your goodbyes, or start to create the distance, don't have any regret - know that you did everything you could to make your relationship to that thing, that event, that person the BEST that it could be. Cherish the memory and hold it dear to your heart. And when it's gone, don't dwell on the shoulda, coulda, woulda's...accept what is and allow it to continue to shape your life...
I found my superball, it was stuck behind a large object - I am spending the whole day having fun with it!
