An Irish Blessing: May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
One thing that seems to get lost now in the modern merriment of a St. Patty's Day celebration is actually remembering St. Patrick himself who is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. It is said that he drove away the serpents from Ireland, converted people from Paganism, and used the shamrock’s three leaves to represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - life was no easy ride for the guy. History tells us that there really weren't an overabundance of actual 'snakes' in Ireland, and instead the serpent represents the evil spirit living amongst the islanders. Today, there still seems to be such 'serpents' living around all of us, we continue to need the staff of St. Patrick to pound the ground and drive them away!
Today, toast to St. Patrick - ask him to run the serpents out of your life...
