Now that I'm a little bit older, our society doesn't really accept the thought having and toting around one's torn, and perfectly shredded in all the right places, blankie. We have to have "it" with us mentally. What was it about that piece of fabric that brought a sense of security? Why did we always feel a little bit safer with it by our sides? What can we use in our lives today that makes us feel that same way? Is it our yoga practice? Our breath? A favorite sweatshirt, coffee, food, or an addiction? Let's start by figuring out what has taken the place of that blankie in our lives, and WHY we feel the way we do when it's near to us? Identify the feelings that come up and then begin to evaluate whether or not they are healthy feelings and are feelings that ultimately help improve our lives. If not, it might be time to let go and get rid of it.
Snuggle into that blankie once again with your puppy...
