It starts out cold and dark, you hop around, moving back and forth in efforts to try to keep warm...someone sings the National Anthem, followed by some inspirational music to get the crowd going - horn blows...GO! Run...run...run... You never know what it's like until you do it, to train, gear up, carb up and then wake up that morning to complete your goal. You feel good, then you feel bad, you don't know if you can continue but somehow you manage to maintain...talking to yourself the entire time. You look around at your surroundings, you look within at what's going on in your heart.
People come to cheer you on and I don't think they realize just how much that means to you...helps you go the distance for just one more mile, then another and another. Spectators need just as much credit as the runners for they keep us going...standing in the cold, hootin' and hollerin'.
You might get hurt, you might not...you just don't know, sore hamstring, knee or ankle, hard to catch your breath every step of the way - but when you finish, when you finally do cross that finish line, you know it was all worth it.
Today, let the body heal...take rest, take it easy and listen to your muscles as they recover...You did a GREAT job...
Let the puppy rest...
