You should always say please (an expression to come before / after any request) and Thank you (an expression of gratitude) when you have received something that pleases you.
Other manners that you should try to remember each and everyday include, chewing with your mouth closed, sharing with others, helping out your family, being polite to those around you, etc. You shouldn't make a mess in someone Else's house when you are visiting or just bark at someone who is a friend / acquaintance of your owner.
Manners are not always enforced by the pound, but they are everyday standards of conduct which show that you are proper, polite, and refined - they will more than likely be enforced by your mom and dad, and followed by punishment if not applied. They are a kind of norm for us to live by...
